Priest's oil dish, made from wood, that is sub circular and shallow. On one side of the dish there are five bars projecting out and are connected at the other end with a cross piece. On the opposite side are three pronged projections. Around the outside of the bowl is a stepped rim incorporating hatched decoration and the same is to be found on the other projections.There are engravings on the base of the dish.
Sub circular, shallow dish with five bars projecting from it connected to a cross piece at the side. This shape emulates the outrigger and struts of a voyaging canoe. Opposite this structure on the other side of the bowl is a three pronged projection which emulates a domodomo masthead. Around the outside of the bowl is a stepped rim incorporating hatched decoration and the same is to be found on the outrigger. Underneath, similar engraving is to be found as is the base of a single foot which has been broken off. The dish has a suspension loop of plaited coconut fibre cordage. This dish is a priest oil dish and would have hung up in a traditional temple between religious rites.
