puppet head

A puppet part consisting of a gourd or papier-mâché head mounted on a wooden rod (part of stages of production). The head is bald with a crudely formed nose and ears. The eyes, eyelashes, eyebrows and mouth are painted on. The eyelids are part drooped; the lips full and red; rosy cheeks. The wooden rod is not painted. The tie-on label is numbered '112'. This head is roughly rectangular in contrast with 1999.153, which has a 'pointy' head and protruding ears.
