Cradle made of painted and lacquered wood. It is a traditional shape: rectangular with a flat base, with a circular opening for a potty and spigots. It has four legs and two hoop ends of lathe-turned wood, with a flat ‘strap’ of wood joined by a turned-wood bar nailed to each strap. The ends and side rails consist of squared wood with the apertures filled in with turned wood pieces. There are two handles along one side, made of two lengths of dowelling with decorative ends, attached to the main frame with two lengths of cord.
The cradle is decorated with painted red flowers, possibly tulips, although the leaves are not, and brown veined work. It is hung with two ‘bobbins’ of painted wood at face height, and four more at the base.
It was bought in a bazaar from the craftsman.
