Potholder, surlgu, two pockets on a carded backing, an oven glove. The pockets are decorated with curvi-linear motifs, foliage in red chain stitch with a green border, also in white and yellow bird’s feet, all on a black velvet ground, and bordered with line-stitching in zigzags and diamonds. Bordered at each end with yellow tassels in synthetic fabric. Backed with a panel of dark-blue corded cloth. Decorative touristica rather than a functional potholder. Donated by the maker, Yrysa Alieva Kaken who lives in a town, Kizil Kia near Osh in southern Kirgizstan but spends summers on Lake Issyk Kul, around Tamchi.
