Glove puppet with a central rod. Puppet is of Zumrat/Cinderella's stepmother. The puppet is large, with a possibly wooden head; blonde 'hair'; round, black eyes with large bags underneath them; a hooked nose; large cheeks and a small, red mouth. She is dressed in a white headscarf made from synthetic silk and a plain cream, cotton shift underneath a dress of cream cotton, decorated with brown circles. Over the dress she wears a waistcoat in grey 'fur' with applique roundels in pink, with a brown, sun-disc motif.
The central rod and 'grotty' hands indicated some age and usage. The style is very different from other modern, Bukharan puppets and shows a strong Russian influence. This may be a reflection of the Director of the Bukhara English Puppet Theatre's (Akobirov Buron's) training in Tashkent. His time in Tashkent (an area strongly influenced by the Russians under the USSR) involved 5 years of acting and 5 years of puppeteering. This puppet also shares features with 1999.159, which might be described as "Western".
