Rectangular silk hanging, unlined, ochre on face, maroon on reverse. Embroidered in multi-coloured silk thread with three roundels amidst butterflies and seasonal flowers of lotus, cassia, peony, orchid, camellia, autumn crabapple, chrysanthemum and magnolia. Between them is a flaming pearl while two bats fly above.
The middle roundel depicts five boys playing in a garden-like setting with a bat flying above. Each boy is holding an object such as lotus, free reed musical instrument called a 'sheng', conch shell, halberd and leafy spray. The left roundel depicts four boys playing a game celebrating official success, depicted by a boy riding a mythical animal called a 'qilin', with one boy holding a canopy by his side, and two boys holding flags leading the procession.
