textile; Numdah; floor felt

Oval cream floor felt decorated with motifs in red, blue and yellow. The fringe surrounding the textile consists of tufts of wool loosely felted in. 3 rings of decoration have been added in separate layers, showing toothed edges along either side. Both main ground and added rings have coloured decoration. The centre contains an eight-pointed star. Then follows a petalled ring. Each petal contains a coloured dot. A coloured ring with contrasting solid traingular motifs is followed by a plain ring. A tightly undulating motif forms another oval. This is followed by a linked chain motif with drop shapes at each tip between 2 plain rings.
