Rectangular cream floor felt or rug ('numdah') with multicoloured chain stitch embroidery. The whole textile is fringed with tufts of fleece. The decoration is arranged in a centre panel, a wider and 2 narrow borders. The centre panel consists of 4 circular floral medaillons surrounded by undulating lines with further floral motifs. The borders consist of 2 narrow red ones. One consists of a framed zigzag, the other one of a linked chain. Between them lies the wider border. This is decorated with repeat floral motifs which form a chain.
Felt mat, Numdah. Single face, wool. Face: natural ivory ground with four circles of flowers and leaves surrounded by similar motifs in pink, maroon, blue, yellow, brown and black in chain stitch; border of flowers with foliage, enclosed by red chain stitch. Fringe formed by teasing out the felted wool.
