Dancer's skirt (Bedamuni: sametaûa). A skirt worn by dancers instead of the pubic covering they normally wear. Made in the same manner as kaîya skirts (eg 1982.9), it consists of several layers of vegetable fibre (young coconut leaves), some of which are partly cut away to enhance the aesthetic appeal. The coconut fibres are tied to twined ropes of gopéa (buko, Gnetum gnemon).
