mask (dance & live theatre)

Wooden carved crab mask depicting the face of a horned animal with a crab between the horns. The base of the body of the crab is above and across between each horn. The crab's pincers are next to the top of each horn. The nose of the animal, with two vertical, eye-shaped nostrils, is in front of, and hangs lower than the animal's mouth. Eyeholes for the wearer are cut out between the crab's body and rear legs. A hole is also cut in the mouth. decorated with polychrome pigments with areas of surface loss. There is a hole at each side and one at the top ? for a fastening.
