cup (food service); cup stand (stand (food service); lid (food service)

Porcelain teacup with lid on a brass stand. The cup has a pedestal base and everted rim and is glazed white with red and green decoration: a band of swastika around the rim. Around the walls are four red flowers with green leaves, with between each an inscription in blue. One is 吉祥 ‘ji xiang’, another one is 如意 ‘ru yi’. Combining them together, they mean ‘good luck and happiness’. There is a square maker’s mark on the base. The stand and lid are of brass. The stand is a lotus form with a cylindrical pedestal, decorated in repoussé with floral and geometric panels.
