Large yellow and red/brown silk tubular skirt cloth, sarong, in pristine condition. It has a yellow, red, and pale blue chequered pattern in the main field, the 'badan'. Additionally, in every other square, is a gold-coloured diamond-shaped motif. A wide, vertical panel, called the 'kepala', has a red ground and the chequered patterning is fainter. It is also patterned with rows of eight-pointed star motifs alternating with smaller square-shaped motifs. The kepala is framed with geometric pattern with a 'V'-shaped edging. The gold patterning is worked in continuous and discontinuous supplementary weft using metal-wrapped thread (songket). The warp ends are sewn together by hand. [Textile]
