Small container, perhaps for a ring box, money or a snuff bottle. A purple inner section is covered with a bell-shaped cover, made up of six rectangular panels. Each has a different coloured satin background, the pale purple one is a twill fabric, embroidered with flower and plant motifs, and a butterfly, worked in multicoloured silk threads and gold-coloured metal-wrapped thread and metal strip. Four of the panels have Chinese calligraphy. Above and below each panel is an endless knot motif alternating with a motif of two overlapping circles. A green and pale purple tassel hangs below. The top of each is decorated with two styles of knot. A similar tassel is used for hanging.
