Bead necklace. Green beads= peace and worshipping God. Beads and wire come from Maralal. the necklace has been threaded on wire of a sweet smelling grass stalk (NASUNGOYO sing, NASUNGOYONI plur). A mother gives the necklace to her daughter as she leaves home, while wearing new shoes, after marriage ceremony. (Cr. 23 + Cr. 24 used together). The beads must be around the gourd the girl drinks blood from to replace her own loss at circumcision. When it rains heavily you make hollow in roof of the house, fill with grass and place Cr. 23 and Cr.24 around hollow. God will stop the rain. the necklace is used by married women and sometimes by fathers. This necklace was manufactured in Ledero. Made by mother.
