Embroidered silk fan case with stiffened paper interface, made of pale turquoise satin on front, blue damask on back, rectangular with round bottom and a 'ruyi'-shaped flap of blue satin on top, edged with silk braided binding; lined with pale blue silk. A stiffened blue satin band and additional pink satin cover with v-shaped top attached in the middle and the bottom respectively, which create another space for holding item such as a brush. The fan case opens at top with attached pink braided silk cord loop handle, attached on overflap bottom is a silver hook decorated with butterfly in repoussé. Both front and back of the fan case are embroidered with flowers and butterflies in multicolored silk thread and couched gilt metal thread: On the front with a butterfly flying on top, two Chinese characters, 'jiang zhao' on the band, below which a chrysanthemum spray, and a blossoming lotus plant with seed pod and root on bottom; on the back with a scrolling prunus blossom spray, a butterfly and two fruits.
