Iron 'allar' lance.
Item number 45 on Jeremy Keenan's item list. Iron spear of the 'allar' type. According to Keenan's notes, this lance was made for tourists. Keenan acquired this object from Aflan of the Kel Hirafok people. Price paid: 20 dinar. Keenan refers to fig 112b in Johannes Nicolaisen's 'Ecology and culture of the pastoral Tuareg, with particular reference to the Tuareg of Ahaggar and Ayr' (Nicolaisen, 1963, p 158, fig 112b).
