'Sruti vina' , originally with 2 wire strings. The fingerboard is marked to show the divisions of the octave in the Westerm and Indian musical systems. A fillet of ivory inlaid on the left side of the fingerboard is marked with the fret positions for playing the notes of the major diatonic scale C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C. Another on the right side is marked with the fret positions for playing the srutis (22 microtones within the octave, identified in ancient and medieval Sanskrit texts) - 1-23 . Pegs and some frets missing.
