box (containers)

An oblong metal box, with slightly curved ends, and covered on the outside with grey and dark blue patterned fabric. It has a sliding lid, which is painted red and gold, and perforated with small holes. A strip of red open weave cloth is stuck over the holes on the underside. The box contains black powder (possibly powdered charcoal) and scraps of charred paper. It is one of a pair (see 1970.268).
