Clarinet in B-flat. Ebonite with German silver keys, mounts and ferrules. Tenons lapped with cork. Thirteen keys, simple system, patent F-sharp/C-sharp key. Keys are of modern design and are mounted on pillars. Identical stamps appear on upper joint (below speaker key) and bell. Both read: EXELSIOR/CLASS/HAWKES & SON/MAKERS/LONDON/13816; Serial number 13816 is also stamped on barrel. Stamp on lower joint reads: HAWKES & SON/MAKERS/LONDON/13816/Bb LP; Mouthpiece, ligature and cap are not original. Reed cap is stamped: C. MAHILLON.
