Sword with a long hilt and a single-edged blade. Five rings encircle the wooden grip, which is ovoid in cross-section and painted with black lacquer. The ovoid guard is also painted with lacquer. The single-edged steel blade is slightly curved towards the point, has one groove near the back on each side and a false edge near the point. On top of the blade near the guard is the inscription 'er zuo' which translates as 'two left'.
