bowl (containers)

Two-handled wooden ceremonial drinling bowl, kasa. The bowl is painted in black and shades of brown; an exterior section of the bowl is wholly painted black with a brown band of paint around the rim. Round the round is a painted inscription which is largely illegible although contains the words: 'Larh, Knoh, ho, Loman &c.' as well as the date, 1822. The interior of the bowl is brown and shows a number of floral patterns, resembling leaves, painted in black. There are traces of further patterning although these are indistinct. There are two S-shaped carved handles, one on each side, which are also brown. A previous description of this object suggests that the bowl would hold about a quart of fluid.
