Box for letters. It is lacquered in black, with a gold floral design and a crest in the form of a three-petal flower in a circle. Decorated with a design of plum flowers with a karakusa (Chinese plant scrolls) motif, also young pine trees, with a mon (crest) in the form of a three-petal oxalis flower (katabami) in a circle. On one side is a 'shippou-tsunagi' pattern, which is very lucky. It has a silver circular handle set into the mon shape on the front and back.
