Wooden umpire's fan, of gumbai type, used by the umpire in sumo wrestling matches to signal the victor. It is similar in form to the war fans used prior to the Edo period, but the without mon and characters that were used on such fans. The fan is decorated on one side with the image of a tiger, and on the other with a dragon in brown, red and gold. It has a long black cord ending in a tassel attached to the handle.
