Flute in D, ebony body, wide embossed silver mounts. Seven silver keys, flat, ornately square, four shaped to the curve of the body, mounted in turned blocks and ring. Cork stopper. Metal lined throughout, with tuning slides at all joints. Right hand joint cracked at upper end; incipient crack in head joint. Cracks in head and left hand joint repaired by pinning. Mount to cap split, and fixed by a pin, inhibiting movement of stopper. Pivot ring of foot keys split away. Stamped on shank of C natural foot key: Wood Fecit. Stamped: JS. WOOD 50 NEW COMPTON STREET SOHO-, LONDON. Also marked: 19 and Patent, with fleur-de-lis mark.
