"Harper's Improved" clock-spring slide trumpet, yellow brass. Middle section is a later substitute, namely: lower parts of mouthpipe; lower yard and bow. A single Périnet valve (lowers the pitch by one tone) inserted in mouthpipe is a later addition: the valve is detachable and replaceable by a shank with the distinctive decorated Köhler sleeve. Crooks in F, E flat and C: one bent shank and one tuning bit. The ivory mouthpiece is probably contemporary but not necessarily appropriate. Some denting at upper bend of slide. Stamped: J. Köhler Henrietta Street (marked: T. Harper's Improved; and on springbox: 143).
