Natural trumpet in E flat, brass. Four bends, uniting straight tubes joined for most of their lengths. Brass mouthpiece presumed original. Ball (pommel) simply decorated.
The compact form of this trumpet and its wide bell flare make it possible to bend the pitch of the notes of the harmonic series by using hand stopping. This is a technique where the fingers are inserted into the bell throat to close it off to varying degrees and enables a natural trumpet to be played chromatically.
