Bassoon, dark brown stained wood, brass mounts. Eleven brass keys, round cupped, mounted in saddles: B flat for right third finger; C sharp for left thumb; low E flat for left fourth finger; duplicate G sharp for right thumb. Brass tuning-slide on wing. Overall length is 123.5 cm. Length of wing and butt is 89.4 cm. Rim of wing chipped. Crook bent, probably not original. Inscription on bell, bass joint and wing: Goulding & Co. (Crown). Wood's Patent also on wing. Inscription on bulb of bell: Goulding & D'Almaine, Soho Square, London (Crown mark and wreath).
