pen (tattoo instrument)

Brass pen for tattooing with eight points. Red pigment is still visible on the points. The pen is in two sections. The stylus, with a pointed end and slits in the sides to retain the pigment, is inserted into a tubular handle. At the top and bottom of the handle are pieces of coiled thin brass. The brass coil at the bottom end has two wire coils which form into a loop at the end. Associated with lengthening tube (14.107 i-iii) and weighted end (14.108).
