Portable scale consisting of an ivory scale beam, a brass pan and weight, stored in a spoon-shaped wooden case covered with red lacquer. The ivory scale beam is marked in black dots and partially encased in brass. Sliding along the scale beam is a detachable, hexagonal brass weight suspended by black thread loop. A brass pan supspended by four green threads (thread broken) for hanging down at one end of the beam. The lacquered wooden case is in two halves sliding horizontally, riveted at one end, hollowed out on the inside to fit the beam, pan and weight. A brass peg fitted on the top of the lid for securing.
