Woman's cane belt. Sometimes women wear plaited belts loosely around their waist as a decoration; the belt does not support anything. Young girls especially do this. The belt is very thin and plaited from brown cane and must pass several times around the body. The cane does not grow locally but is found on the north side of the Sepik/Wahgi divide in the Jimi valley, called "kan kela nggramr".
belt (waist ornament); kan kela nggrami
