Gatherer's digging stick from the Hadza people of Lake Eyasi, Tanzania. The digging stick is made of hard wood, which is sharpened at one end. This digging stick is too short for use due to continuous sharpening.
Used by the Hadza to dig up edible roots. When new, digging sticks are 5 to 6 feet long and re-sharpened several times until finally too short for further use.
