jar (general & multipurpose); jar (containers)

Large jar of baluster form with long neck, flanged mouth and flared rim. It stands on a high foot with wide, flat base. The clay is orange red earthenware. The upper body is covered with green lead glaze. Three bands of incised lines around the belly. There are some repairs at the mid-body and around the foot. Jars of this type were based on a bronzeware prototype and used in burials. Roll of cloth inside jar.
