Home Education Workshops

Join us for exciting, interactive object handling workshops for home educated children this spring.

Upcoming autumn workshops

Tickets: £3.25 per child (1 free adult ticket per child).

Thursday 24 October – Evidence for Evolution

2.45pm–3.45pm | home educated children aged 12–16 years

This session explores evidence for evolution by handling real fossils from the Horniman’s collection and discussing what they are and what we can learn from them.

Participants will compare the beaks of different birds, like Charles Darwin did, and also study some taxidermy animals and find out how they have adapted to their environment.

Friday 29 November – Habitats

1.15pm–2.15pm | home educated children aged 4–6 years

How have animals adapted to their homes? Discover for yourself as you get ‘hands on’ with incredible taxidermy animals from different habitats including the Arctic, a coral reef and a woodland.

Identify animals, examine their features and think about some of the challenges these creatures face in our changing world.
